Amber's Review
Review of Fort Lewis College
In which ways do you feel you are learning and growing?
The professors are also very open to communication and available within reasonable office hours and via email. Everyone has had disability and inclusivity training and is approachable and empathetic to any issues you might have with your classes or assignments and many are flexible with your situation within reason. That being said they still have high expectations of you which is the point of going to college. It's not High School phase II, your teachers will help ease you into that reality.
How are you enjoying your time at this college?
The environment at Fort Lewis is very conducive to learning, studying, and getting involved in school activities. The campus has many public and major-specific study spaces, like a large library, several student organization rooms with comfortable seating, and private rooms you can reserve through the library. If I didn't have these spaces to study I would be lost. When I'm not studying there are always activities going on on campus, especially in the evening, like movies, RSOs (Registered Student Organization), gallery shows, talks, plays, concerts, etc.
How does this institution support campus safety or mental health and wellness programs?
Fort Lewis has an excellent support system in place for mental health with school counselors, volunteer student services if you just need to vent, free food in the Grub Hub and lots of activities to lift your mood and help you cope with your workload. Before midterms and finals there are puppies, dogs, and even a cat cafe for some animal therapy to help you with stressful tests.
