Review of Fontbonne University

from Saint Louis, MO

Describe your college in three sentences.

Fontbonne University is a very small campus, which makes it great for receiving one on one time with instructors. Most of the students who go there are very friendly, and there are activities going on almost every weekend.

Do you have any tips for prospective students?

I highly recommend making strong connections with your teachers. I also think it is very important to stay on top of academic paperwork such as scholarships, bills, and other student information to make sure the staff is free of errors. Last, I recommend students put 100% into their school work because after all, they are the ones paying for it.

Do you find there’s enough academic rigor at your school?

Most of my classes are pretty difficult. I like to know that I am learning new things though. Most of the teachers are very helpful and willing to assist you in whatever ways they can.

Describe the dorm life at your college.

I don't live in the dorms, but I have been up there once. The ones in Medaille hall are not very nice and are very tiny. You do, however, have a bathroom to share with one roommate which is better than community bathrooms. The ones in St. Joseph hall seem much nicer!

Describe the food and dining at your college.

The food at Fontbonne is great! They offer healthy foods with a huge variety in the dining room and fast food in the DSAC of Griffin Grill. Definitely tastes homemade :)

What’s there to do for fun at your college?

Fontbonne has activities almost every Friday. They bring in speakers, go bowling, to the movies, have dances, and have sports tournaments. Almost all of these things are free or given a great discount for students.

Do you feel you’re getting value for the money you’re spending on college?

Like all colleges, Fontbonne is a little costly. However, they offer pretty great scholarships which makes it easier to pay for.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Fontbonne is big on activities for students of different cultures. Each year we have a fun festival for students from all over the world. They each have their own booth and share information and items from their home country along with free food from those places.

Are you involved in any clubs or activities?

There are clubs for any area you can imagine. Science, math, Teaching, Speech Path, everything!

How would you describe campus safety? Do you feel safe on campus?

Fontbonne has a few security guards who have their own office in the parking lot. I will occasionally see them walking around. I have never heard of anything stolen or seen any fights. Overall, it is a very safe campus.
