Review of Florida Tech

from Brookline, NH

Will learn a lot

Florida Tech is absolutely amazing in creating an environment where you learn the way it's most effective for you. Your professors will be top-notch, but also they make a point to provide more than enough research and internship opportunities on and near campus.

Will enjoy being here

FIT has everything. If you want to do research or score an internship in the area, you can get there easily. But on the other side, it's total FUN when you want it to be! The beach is biking distance away, probably about a 10 minute drive. The campus is absolutely gorgeous with palm trees, open green areas, lots of new buildings, and the botanical gardens with walking paths, and you'll never get tired of it! There's even a new swimming pool under construction :). It's pretty much an hour away from the major cities in any direction, including just over an hour away from Orlando for sports or Disney fans!

Do you feel you’re getting value for the money you’re spending on college?

Let's be real here - Florida Tech is expensive for some, but there's more behind that you should know... the key here is Florida Tech tries to make it affordable for everyone with the scholarships and aid they give out. They offer so much to students, so there's going to be a price, but you should still apply and weigh all your options once you receive scholarship/financial aid packages from everywhere you apply.

Do you have any tips for prospective students?

They have rolling admission, but if you get everything in by early January then you get priority consideration for scholarships (check fit.edu/e-mail the admissions department or your admissions counselor for the dates for the year you're applying). You'll also know the decision in some cases in just a few weeks! Same goes for the FAFSA, file early and you'll get priority and also in the past there have been early filer grants where if you file your FAFSA before a certain date you'll get another 1,000 for that year (not this year so they may not be doing it again). ***If you visit and attend a campus tour, half-day, or full-day event, on campus then you get another $1,000 per year automatically if you attend! It's worth the visit - you can get into Florida early and go to Disney, see a game, explore Melbourne or the state, go to the beach, and get some more money for tuition!

Which types of students will excel at your college?

Honestly, you should know what you want to go into well before you attend here. If you're one of those kids of people, this school will fit you like a glove. If you know where you want to go, the programs FIT has to offer and your counselors will get you there. It really does have everything - the academics, research opportunities, professional internship opportunities, the beach, fun, in a great location, everything!
