Describe your college in three sentences.

The small school atmosphere at Daemen College provides a welcoming feeling, and makes the transition from high school much less intimidating. The staff and students alike are beyond helpful and always glad to offer their assistance and time. My experience at Daemen thus far has only made me ecstatic about my future there, and all the opportunities I will have to learn and grow.

Do you have any tips for prospective students?

Students considering attending Daemen should get organized, and get involved. Organization is the key to success at Daemen. Students have completely packed schedules and the best way to have a low stress experience is to stay organized. Having good organization skills will not only help with scholastics, but also with time management, so that all the extracurricular activities at Daemen can be taken advantage of! College can be stressful, and making sure to maintain social activities outside of the classroom is extremely helpful!

Do you find there’s enough academic rigor at your school?

Academics at Daemen are difficult, but there are many options to help students succeed. Professors encourage full use of their office hours to help students who are struggling. Also, there are Peer Led Teacher Led study groups which many students attend to receive extra study time, and free tutors in the learning center who are knowledgeable and kind. Many professors even offer extra credit for taking advantage of these services, they appreciate the full effort of students!

Describe the dorm life at your college.

Living in the dorms at Daemen was one of the best experiences I had. Dorm life led me to some of my best friends and experiences at school. While living in the dorms is great for meeting people, and learning how to live with others it was also great for academics. Those living in the dorms were respectful and understanding of those who needed to study, and who needed the extra sleep for early classes. The lounges in Canavan make a great place to have study sessions, and they were used for that almost every day. Living in the dorms at Daemen is good for making friends and keeping those grades up!

Describe the food and dining at your college.

Being a vegetarian I was extremely worried about what I would eat while living on campus. Luckily, that wasn't a problem. The dining hall has dietary options that are friendly for everyone. Dining options include a salad bar, wrap bar, a grill, a pizza station, the Veg-E-Table, where students can make their own creation with rice, vegetables, and seasoning, and the line which offers something new each day.

What’s there to do for fun at your college?

The college provides a plethora of activities throughout the school year to keep students involved, but there are also many clubs and sports to take up any free time. If you can't find fun in any clubs or sports teams, the back lawn is great for hanging out with a group of friends. With a volleyball court, fire pit, picnic tables, and a grassy area, anyone can find fun in the lawn! There are also ping pong tables in the Wick Campus Center, which always provide an enjoyable time! Finding what to do in your free time at Daemen will not be a problem with all these options.

Which types of students will excel at your college?

In high school I was the overly studious student, and Daemen is great for people who are also that type. I found the students at Daemen had the same mindset as me, and were willing to work just as hard to reach their goals. Being around people who felt the same as me about the importance of school helped me to feel right at home. Types of students who take school seriously will find that Daemen is right for them.

How would you describe campus safety? Do you feel safe on campus?

Living on campus at Daemen I always felt safe, and my parents did not have to worry while I was there either. The campus is an extremely friendly area, and the Campus Safety employees are always just a phone call away. Campus Safety is always willing to walk students back to their room if they feel unsafe, or anything else they may need, All students are given the campus safety phone number at the start of they year, so they never have to feel like they are in danger.
