Alexis's Review

Review of CUNY New York City College of Technology

from Queens , NY

In which ways do you feel you are learning and growing?

In ways of being more independent with my decisions. I was given a lot of room to grow and not to be afraid to try new things and speak up.

How are you enjoying your time at this college?

I enjoyed the environment, most people I got along with, we all had one same goal of learning, doing well, and taking something away from it with the hopes of using it for financial support.

What tips can you share with prospective students?

I would say use all the tools that you are given, don't be afraid to ask questions, explore, and try new things. This is the perfect place to be yourself, learn about others, make mistakes, and improve.

What qualities do you have that have best prepared you for success at this institution?

Humilty, modesty, willing to learn, hard worker, disciplined. You need to be adaptable and respectful, if you are COMMUNICATIVE! you will succeed because they want to help you to succeed. When they see your efforts, they are more willing to work with you when you are having an issue.

In what ways do you feel this college challenges students academically?

I think it helps challenge people in the right ways with communication, discipline, and learning ability.

How would you describe the food and dining options?

I know they had support programs and many opportunities in events for free food so I would say talk to people and get the free food.

In your experience, what is there to do for fun at this college?

There is many events for associating among peers, clubs, and showcases that I was a part of.

In what clubs or organiziations have you participated and how have they impacted your overall experience?

I didn't participate in a club but I did join a band where we participated in the spring music showcase, it was really fun and chill. I think it helped me feel more confident and want to share my voice with others.

Are there any quirky or unique traditions that make your college special?

Again I would say the showcase, just being able to share your talents and do something you enjoy so that you have a balance of not only just working on school. You have the support of many peers and staff.
I honestly enjoyed walking around the campus, getting food, and finding new places to go.

How does this institution support campus safety or mental health and wellness programs?

They have programs for mental health and physical health. I really loved how they were supportive with menstrual care.

How has your college supported your career development and future goals?

I think it helped me gain experience and connections with peers and professors. It wasn't hard to get along and talk about personal life and goals.
