Describe your college in three sentences.

Housatonic Community college is an ideal school for individuals who have lower incomes and/or are minorities. It is located in downtown Bridgeport in close proximity to buses, train station and ferry. HCC has transfer partnerships with four year colleges located in New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and others.

Do you have any tips for prospective students?

Apply for financial aid assistance early. Research opportunities in advance.

Do you find there’s enough academic rigor at your school?

Professors are reasonable. Small class room size.

Describe the dorm life at your college.

No dorms on campus. College closes at 10 p.m. Plenty of lounging areas. Student life is active.

Cafeteria food is decent. More than one Cafeteria.

What’s there to do for fun at your college?

Join a student club or shop downtown Bridgeport.

Do you feel you’re getting value for the money you’re spending on college?

Make use of the student labs. Get extra help and anticipate problems you may have with subjects. Plan to schedule appointments with tutors before hand.
