Describe your college in three sentences.

College of the Redwoods is a great community college to attend if you are interested in small class sizes and an intimate learning environment. The teachers here love to help and will always write a wonderful letter of recommendation! I have recently graduated, but I plan on coming back to visit my teachers in the future!

Do you have any tips for prospective students?

Don't slack off your first semesters because it will be hard to bring your gpa up in the future! The first thing you should do is make a student education plan (SEP) with your academic advisor because that will give you a structure to follow so you can graduate on time! Always utilize your teachers office hours because it will pay off in the end!

Do you find there’s enough academic rigor at your school?

Depending on the classes you are taking it can get tough! Chemistry was my least favorite subject, but the learning center offered so much help with different tutors of all subjects that I was able to pass the class!

Describe the dorm life at your college.

The dorm life was fun and the dorms were actually more spacious than some of the dorms at the university! If you live in the dorms you will make many on campus friends, and if you choose to become a Resident Advisor you will be able to stay in the dorms for free!

Describe the food and dining at your college.

The food is pretty good, however, the cafeteria is small. Prices are reasonable, but it is still a school cafeteria so the prices are higher than a regular store. They offer a variety of vegetarian food.

What’s there to do for fun at your college?

Since this school is located in a remote area things that people choose to do for fun are hiking and hanging out with friends. Going out to explore the town is always fun too because there are so many little neighborhoods.

Do you feel you’re getting value for the money you’re spending on college?

It is a cheaper junior college to attend due to the remote location. Rent in the city of Eureka is very reasonable and you don't need a car to drive everywhere because the bus is fairly decent.

Which types of students will excel at your college?

Nature loving, laid back, zen, people who just want to get away from it all would love this school. If you are a city person (like me) it can be hard to adjust to such an unfamiliar environment.

Are you involved in any clubs or activities?

Student government is an awesome organization on campus to get involved with! I was apart of the student government for 1.5 years and I loved everything about it. There are also many other clubs on campus, and if you can't find a club that you like at CR than Humboldt State University (HSU) has clubs you can join on their campus as well!

Are you involved in any clubs or activities?

None at CR, but HSU does have a variety of Greek life!

How would you describe campus safety? Do you feel safe on campus?

Sometimes there are mountain lion sightings on campus at night. There are random deer that wander across the campus in the day, but other than that safety on campus is not a worry to most.
