Central is a Christian community that is working to build well rounded graduates. It is not perfect, no college will be but it is the closest I found.
Do you have any tips for prospective students?
If you want to be known as more than a number come check out Central. Faculty and staff will know who you are. They care about me more as a person than as a student in their class. They want to see me succeed in all of life as well as in their classes.
Do you find there’s enough academic rigor at your school?
This school has fantastic teachers. The classes all set a standard of what they expect, after that it comes down to the idea of the more you put in the more you will get out of it!
Describe the dorm life at your college.
I love dorm life. The girls on my floor are some of my best friends. It is not uncommon if someone is sick in the dorm or if someone got hurt for my floor to get together and pray for them and the situation.
Describe the food and dining at your college.
Cafeteria food will always be cafeteria food. However, every year it is improving and they keep taking polls to see what we like and what we do not. At Central they are at least trying to provide a quality dining experience.
What’s there to do for fun at your college?
Central is in a little town, so sometimes you have to get creative, but those memories are always more fun anyways! We watch a lot of movies on campus, there is always a movie playing on campus in at least one of the dorms. Besides movies and Netflix, the student activities councile and student development do a pretty good job of making sure there is an event at least once a week.
Do you feel you’re getting value for the money you’re spending on college?
Comparatively Central is dirt cheap! I will be done with my sophomore year with only $2000 in loans. They do a good job of trying to keep college affordable. Central also has the Presidents Opportunity Challenge. The POC program enables certain students to work for the school in exchange for the majority of their tuition.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus
Two of Central's best traditions are two events each year, El Tigre and Mock Rock! El Tigre happens each fall, it is the equivalent of a male fashion show, it is FANTASTIC! Mock Rock happens in the spring and is a lip sync competition. Everyone on campus comes out for these events every year!
Are you involved in any clubs or activities?
We do not have that many clubs but the ones that are on campus are very active. Especially Central's FBLA-PBL chapter!
How would you describe campus safety? Do you feel safe on campus?
The campus is small enough everyone knows everyone, so if there is some one who does not belong people will know.
