Review of Cabrillo College

from Arcadia, CA

Describe your college in three sentences.

This is a fantastic school. Compared to any Community College in Socal , class availability is much more common here which means less time wasted in the Community College system. Beautiful, technologically sound school that even has a view of the beach from the campus.

Do you have any tips for prospective students?

Make sure you are registered on schedule, if you are doing this as a last minute register, you still have much more opportunity than anywhere in LA. If you are on time for registration, you should be on your way to having 12 units at least.

Do you find there’s enough academic rigor at your school?

Teachers are very passionate about what they teach. Makes for the best of teachers you will enjoy having.

Describe the dorm life at your college.

If you live locally great for you, if you are a student looking to rent a room for cheap, look on craigslist or other advertising websites. A car is highly suggested though.

Describe the food and dining at your college.

Santa Cruz has some of the best food I've had in a long time. My local taco bar ended up being the most authentic mexican food I've had in my entire life.

What’s there to do for fun at your college?

Buy a wetsuit and surfboard and learn how to surf on the weekends. Endless miles of coast to explore.

Do you feel you’re getting value for the money you’re spending on college?

$46 a unit is little to nothing with any sort of financial aid

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Unlike Los Angeles, people don't care as much for appearance here. It is highly common seeing someone in their pajamas going to class.

Which types of students will excel at your college?

Students who want to escape the city or suburbia.

Are you involved in any clubs or activities?

The clubs actually do stuff for the community here.

How would you describe campus safety? Do you feel safe on campus?

Police everywhere. Two tickets in the first two weeks. Santa Cruz is a small town, everyone drives below 35 mph anywhere in the city besides the freeway (pch 1)
