Review of Brigham Young University-Idaho

from Idaho Falls, ID

Do you feel you’re learning a lot?

This is my first semester up here, and I've already learned more than I thought possible. The teachers here are all amazing, and have great backgrounds. They set time aside to help students and talk with them if needed, and they are all so helpful. The career advisers are all helpful with deciding what courses you should take and how to plan. Everyone here makes learning fun! You also have prayer before every class, so it invites the Spirit to be there, which is the best teacher of all!

Do you enjoy the experience at your school?

I absolutely love it here! Everyone you meet is incredibly friendly, and everyone says hi to each other. You feel welcome. The whole atmosphere on campus is such a great feeling. There are so many new friends to meet here.

Do you feel you’re getting value for the money you’re spending on college?

BYU-Idaho is one of the cheapest colleges out there because of the support from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. But even though it's cheap, you don't miss out on anything. You get the best quality education for the best price! Also, there is so much to do on campus. Dances, sports, and concerts are among the most popular, but the list is much longer. We have pretty much everything you can think of!

Do you have any tips for prospective students?

First of all, if you're not sure where to go for college, I would strongly recommend putting lots of prayer into your decision. But if you do decide that this is the school for you, you should decide early on where you're going to live. This is my first semester, and I'm living off campus, but it's right across the street from campus. I love it, but so does everyone else, so you need to turn in your apartment applications early, or you won't get a room. Also, talk to the advisers early on so they can help you decide what classes to sign up for. I would try to complete your Foundations classes within the first couple of years however. But most of all, come prepared to learn AND have fun! You need both!

Which types of students will excel at your college?

This would be a great school for any member of the LDS church. Your testimony will grow so strong, and you will grow as a person as well.
