Review of Boulder College of Massage Therapy

from Westminster, CO

Describe your college in three sentences.

The staff here is incredible helpful. I learned so much more than anatomy and massage here. I loved how much hands on experience there was for me.

Do you have any tips for prospective students?

Get enough sleep, take care of yourself, take advantage of office hours and peer tutoring, get bodywork on a regular basis (which you will at times during school), ask some students already here or even some massage therapists about the field.

Do you find there’s enough academic rigor at your school?

You'll have a lot of things to learn, but you'll have room to be creative. It's adult education so your grades are controlled by how much you work or don't.

Describe the dorm life at your college.

There are no dorms on the campus, but there are apartments near it.

Describe the food and dining at your college.

There's a student store that carries some pretty good food, there's also a local diner, king soopers and other food places near by.

What’s there to do for fun at your college?

Trade bodywork with your classmates, venture in either Boulder or Longmont to check things out. Boulder has a variety of people, and if you eat organic, vegan, gluten-free there are plenty of places downtown for you to shop.

Do you feel you’re getting value for the money you’re spending on college?

The cost of tuition, books and so on is amazingly worth it if you're passionate about massage and the work that goes into it. They even offer an Associate of Occupation Studies program available for students that already have their Certification to pursue even more modalites and gain more certifcation.

Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus

Integrative (the last modality you have) will have it's students run through the halls with musical instruments as a way of expression, it's fun and I'm glad I was able to take part.

Which types of students will excel at your college?

Those that like to help others and are able to put theirselves in another persons shoes. Those that are not afraid to ask questions or offer their advice when needed.

Are you involved in any clubs or activities?

There's student council which plan events and raise money for scholarships, a cadaver lab is offered every 3 months I think so a massage student can really see the muscles studied in real life, as well as a variety of electives ranging from Pet Massage to Sports to Pregnancy Massage to Energy Work.

How would you describe campus safety? Do you feel safe on campus?

The campus is safe, I've never heard of any issues nor have I encountered any myself. Respect for yourself, your students and the BCMT staff is standard and put into practice
