Review of Arizona State University Campus Immersion

Do you feel you’re learning a lot?

I am learning a lot- inside, as well as outside, of the classroom. You will learn something, of course, from any school you go to. ASU has a lot of great teachers and fantastic programs. It is a huge school, so it has a lot to offer. I think it is under appreciated and underrated sometimes, because people see it as a party school. Do people party here? Yes, but they party everywhere. If you are going to school to focus on your education, then ASU has a lot to offer. Outside of the classroom, you can learn a lot from exploring. At the Tempe campus, you will be surrounded by so much. There is transportation all over, so you can get to multiple places. You can also walk around Mill or just walk around the campus. There is a lot to see. You might even learn something about yourself along the way.

Do you enjoy the experience at your school?

My first semester was tough, because I was only hanging out with a few people from high school and a few new people. Well, we all hung out together, and when things went bad with one person, I kind of lost everyone. Second semester, though, I joined a community service sorority, and I met a ton of great girls. I love hanging out with the girls and working with them. So, my advice for trying to fit in at a new school is simple. Get involved! There are so many clubs at ASU, that you are bound to find something you like.

Do you feel you’re getting value for the money you’re spending on college?

It's expensive, I'm not going to lie. I'm a resident, and it's still hard to afford everything. Like I said, though, there are a ton of great opportunities at ASU. There are lots of programs to get involved in, academically and socially. Plus, there are obviously a lot of teachers, aides, and counselors there to help you succeed. So, I guess what I'm saying is that if you put yourself out there and find what you want to do and take the right classes, then it is going to be worth the money, because you are creating your future.

Do you have any tips for prospective students?

Explore and try new things. Don't fall back into old habits. This is college, and it's the time to find yourself and try new things. Stay true to your beliefs and morals, but don't be afraid to get out there.

Which types of students will excel at your college?

If you like people, this is the place for you. There's about 60,000 students or more at ASU. If you like cities, this is the place for you. ASU Tempe is in the heart of downtown Tempe. You can also go to the Downtown campus or take the light rail to visit, and you'll be right next to the sport stadiums, theaters, and so much more. If you want to learn, this is the place for you. As I said earlier, I have learned a lot- inside and outside of the classroom.
