Review of Appalachian State University

from Deland, FL

Do you feel you’re learning a lot?

Appalachian State has some of the best professors and teachers. They all truly know what they are talking about and they all have a passion for what they are teaching. I have learned more from them than I ever did in high school. You also have the ability to form lasting relationships with your professors which allows you to gain real world information and a perspective of what you can do with your major once you are out of school. I have learned so much in my first year at Appalachian and believe that I will continue to learn so much during my time there.

Do you enjoy the experience at your school?

Appalachian State has so much going on at all times. There are over 300 clubs on campus and there is always an event or concert going on. I love being in Boone as well. Its such a fun town where you can enjoy time downtown or just hang out. Overall its been a fun time living on campus the first year because they offer so much stuff for you to do or get involved in. As long as you find something that you enjoy doing you will have a great time!

Do you feel you’re getting value for the money you’re spending on college?

I think I am getting everything I want from Appalachian and it is very worth the money. I am from out of state so I am paying more money but I think that its worth it. I am getting something that I know I couldn't get in Florida so it is worth it to me.

Do you have any tips for prospective students?

Make sure that Appalachian is a place that you can see your self for 4 years. It is such a fantastic place but if it doesn't have the kind of things you like to do it will not be as fun for you. Just be sure that you get involved in all that the school has for you and you take all it offers to your advantage.

Which types of students will excel at your college?

Its great for people who love the outdoors and the mountains. It has a lot of different majors but if you are looking for Recreation Management or things like that, it is a great school. Overall a great school that all types of people will love. However, if you don't like snow or cold weather I would not suggest Boone. Other than that it is a great school in a fun town that anyone will love.
