Review of Abilene Christian University

from Lubbock, TX

Describe your college in three sentences.

ACU is a small, close knit school on a beautiful campus. Whenever I visited, I was welcomed immediately by various members of faculty and students. Everyone is very kind without shoving the religious affiliation down your throat.

Do you have any tips for prospective students?

Definitely apply for financial aid, because this is not a cheap school. However, 100% of students receive some financial aid and they do their best to make it as affordable as possible for every student. Also, get involved in the many activities/clubs they have on campus.

Do you find there’s enough academic rigor at your school?

Small class sizes and caring professors definitely help, especially if you don't do as well in large lecture hall type classes. The courses can be challenging at times, but there is tutoring services available and professors are willing to work with you.

Describe the dorm life at your college.

The dorms are all very nice, although freshmen do get community bathrooms. Don't be too turned off by that, because its a great way to get to know your dormmates better through shower sing-alongs, mutual complaints and what-not.

Describe the food and dining at your college.

The Bean is nice, but don't let its title as the World Famous Bean get you too excited. There isn't too much variety in the food and I hear it gets old after a while.

What’s there to do for fun at your college?

Get involved on campus!!! Join clubs, hang out, go to sporting events. I don't know too much about what Abilene itself has to offer yet, but I know they do a good job of hosting events on campus.

How would you describe campus safety? Do you feel safe on campus?

They have a police force on campus, and they're everywhere.
