Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ)

This scholarship is for high school students who are enrolled in grades 9-12 in US public, private, or home schools. To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must write a 300-500 word essay on the importance of having news media that are independent of the government. Essays will be judged on material organization; vocabulary and style; grammar, punctuation, and spelling; neatness; and adherence to contest rules.
