R. G. Frantz AFL-CIO Technical Trades Scholarship

Battle Creek Community Foundation

This scholarship is for Battle Creek area graduating seniors or adults associated with organized labor. There is a strong emphasis on merit, need, above average grades, community involvement, and whose families have a modest income level. Financial need is not a major criteria for the scholarship. Criteria considered are: attendance (school or work), responsibility, communication skills and abilities, cooperation, service to the community; utilizing a balance of academic, community service, and extracurricular criteria. Priority will be given to candidates who have an interest or need for technical or trade related training, upgrading of skills, or re-training for individuals who are associated with organized labor and may be unemployed, under employed, and/or dislocated workers. Scholarship could serve self-interest of local employers with respect to projections of the appropriate training and education of the work force 2000 and beyond.
