Mary A. Mades Volunteer Scholarship Award
Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center
The Mary A. Mades Volunteer Scholarship Award is an expression of appreciation to a Beth Israel Deaconess outstanding volunteer(s) who is pursuing a degree or certificate in health care. Candidates will be enrolled in or accepted into a program leading to a degree or certification in health care. This includes clinical and lab technology; dental hygiene; EMT training; medicine; midwifery; nursing; occupational, respiratory, physical or speech therapy; pharmacology; phlebotomy, x-ray and other medical or technical programs. Each candidate will have given a minimum of 125 hours of dedicated and laudable volunteer service within two years proceeding the application due date.
It is the intent of the award to recognize exemplary volunteers. We seek those who honor their commitments without prodding; look for tasks that would be helpful to the hospital, hospital staff, and/or patients; and would be welcomed as a permanent volunteer in the unit; therefore, they exhibit those qualities of volunteer performance prized by others.
