Maine Media Workshops + College

Maine Media Women, an organization of Maine writers, photographers, editors, and other media-related professionals will award, in collaboration with Maine Media Workshops + College, a tuition scholarship to a qualified woman, an emerging artist who would like to further her skills with a course in still photography (preferably documentary, landscape, or portraiture). This need-based scholarship honors the memory of Karen Van Allsburg, a member of Maine Media Women and an alumna of Maine Photographic Workshops, our predecessor. A dynamic, creative woman who brightened every space she entered, Karen succumbed to breast cancer in December 1999 at the age of 51.
