John L. Carey Scholarship Program
American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA)
The John L. Carey Scholarship provides financial assistance to liberal arts and non-business degree holders who are pursuing both graduate studies in accounting and the CPA licensure. This award is funded by the AICPA Foundation and is intended to encourage students with little or no previous accounting education to consider professional accounting careers.
The applicant must have obtained a non-business undergraduate degree from a regionally accredited institution in the United States prior to enrolling in a graduate accounting program. The applicant must not have earned more than 12 credits in accounting or business during his/her undergraduate program. The applicant must be a US citizen or permanent resident planning to pursue (but not be currently enrolled in) a full-time graduate-level degree in accounting or an accounting-related discipline beginning in fall of the 2019-20 academic year at a US institution (which includes US territories), as well as the CPA licensure. The graduate program must be accredited by the AACSB and/or ACBSP. The applicant must be AICPA Student Affiliate member (or have submitted a new member application) and plan to participate in the AICPA Legacy Scholars program for the full 2019-20 academic year.
