This scholarship was established for the benefit of high school graduates from East Hawai'i (Honoka’a to Ka‘u). Dr. Gerrit Ludwig was an ophthalmologist in Hilo with a love for fine arts and classics. He set up this fund to support students studying in these fields. Preference is given to students pursuing a degree in Fine Arts and Classics.
Applicant must be a resident of the State of Hawai’i, demonstrate financial need, attend an accredited, four year, not-for-profit institution within the US (including US territories), attend as a full-time student (as determined by your school’s financial aid office), Undergraduate or Graduate student, graduate of an East Hawai’i public high school: Hilo, Honoka‘a, Ka‘u, Kea‘au, Laupahoehoe, Pahoa, Waiakea, Hawaii Academy of Arts & Science. Major in a degree in Fine Arts and Classics. Financial aid letter from your college required to verify final award amount. Minimum 2.5 GPA.
