Bob R. Hefner Memorial Scholarship
Community Foundation of Abilene
The Bob R. Hefner Memorial Scholarship was established by Mr. Hefner prior to his death in June, 2010. Mr. Hefner was a businessman in Coleman, Texas, who wanted to help students attend vocational or technical schools to learn to operate tangible mechanical equipment. These skills would include welding, metal fabrication, automotive or aviation maintenance, or other mechanically related skills. Also included would be technology training. Because Mr. Hefner had been involved with the manufacturing industry, he knew first hand the importance of skills training.
To be eligible, applicants must be graduates of Coleman High and attending an accredited vocational/technical college in the United States. Applicants must be studying mechanically related fields such as welding, metal fabrication, automotive/aviation maintenance or a technology/technical field such as offered at TSTC and other technical colleges.
