Bill Werremeyer Memorial Scholarship

The applicant(s) must be a graduate of South Vermillion High School and a resident of Vermillion County. Residency includes living in the county for twelve consecutive months or the two consecutive semesters of the students senior year. Selection priority is to be given to applicant(s) who are pursuing a degree or career in business or the building trades. A business degree may include a variety of specialty fields such as: accounting, administration, strategy, economics, entrepreneurship, finance, human resource management, information systems, logistics, marketing, organizational psychology, organizational behavior, public relations, research methods and real estate among others. A building trades degree may include a variety of specialty fields such as: carpenter, electrician, heavy equipment operator, iron worker, laborer, mason, plasterer, plumber, pipe fitter, sheet metal worker, and welder among others. The applicant(s) must be accepted as a full- time (minimum of 12 hours) student at a two-year or four-year public or private college or university or vocational trade school located in Indiana. The selected school must be accredited by a regionally accredited organization such as the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. The minimum grade point average for high school applicants is 2.5 on a 4.0 grading scale. Applicant must show financial need and disclose any scholarships covering 50% or more of the cost of tuition. If no applicant(s) meet this criteria, other applicant(s) who meet all other selection criteria are to be considered for the scholarship. One scholarship is to be awarded each year and is nonrenewable.
