To apply for this scholarship, students must submit a typed, double-spaced, 650-800 word essay about a personal encounter with drug and/or alcohol abuse. Applicants must go into detail about how the situation was dealt with, what they learned from the experience, what others may learn, and what was right or wrong about the way the incident was handled. Applicants must include their high school transcripts and a recent photo with their submission.

Eligibility

You must currently be a senior in high school.
Your high school must be located in one of the following states: Alaska, Colorado, Idaho, Minnesota, Montana, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Washington or Wyoming.
You must have a grade point average of 2.5 or better.
You must have plans to attend college after graduation (the college you will attend can be located in any state).
