In certain classes I feel like you can learn a lot about the products you produce as well as the ingredients it takes to make them. However, there are some classes that aren't really teaching you anything new, just mainly review.
Do you feel you’re getting value for the money you’re spending on college?
You definitely are on a personal level with the chefs and they are always offering to teach you new things. Also, if you are a person into competitions, it would be a great asset to learn how to adjust according to altitude and learn why certain ingredients would give you a specific result in your products. You also get a feel for the 'industry' and what will be expected of you in the real world.
Do you have any tips for prospective students?
Visit the campus and make sure it is the right fit for you! Just because you think a campus might sound great doesn't mean you will actually enjoy living there. Ask as many questions as possible, don't be afraid to ask questions that concerns you such as safety, cost, weather, etc.
Make sure Johnson and Wales offer your major that you want to have a profession in! So that you will actually want to go to school and learn.
And make sure to plan ahead. Make all your payments on time and mark the dates on your calendar for important reminders.
Which types of students will excel at your college?
People who love the outdoors, the weather is really great in Colorado and the air is fresh and clean.
People who like the cold. When it snows and gets cooler you can even have a high in the negatives!
People who actually want to learn. If you just want to kick back and do minimal work then don't bother coming because it will be a waste of your time and money; you should actually want to try and learn because you have a passion for it.
