A different school with an overall wonderful environment. Different in the best kind of way from the campus, to the food, to the teachers and students. A safe and fun learning environment.
Do you have any tips for prospective students?
Study hard in high school because GCU gives out many generous scholarships, and in college plan to keep up those grades so that your scholarship does not downgrade, because you have to maintain a certain GPA to keep your current scholarship.
Do you find there’s enough academic rigor at your school?
Due to the smaller class sizes the teachers get to know the students really well even in the bigger lecture halls and they push the students and make sure you know what is going on. We get plenty of homework but also plenty of one on one time and tutors are free.
Describe the dorm life at your college.
The dorms are new, clean and large. There is even a bathroom and a small kitchen and living room in the dorm and it is nicer than most colleges. Of course nobody loves living in dorms because having a roommate can be not the best, but the facility itself is impressive.
Describe the food and dining at your college.
The food is almost the best thing. It is easy to gain weight here and so the freshman 15 is so hard to avoid because the fast food choices here are tempting, from Panda Express, to pizza, Auntie Anne's, The Habit, and now Taco Bell! But, there are healthier options too like Lean Canteen, and Fresh Fusion, also the farmers market comes out a couple times a week. So, great options, and plenty of them too.
What’s there to do for fun at your college?
There is bowling, pools, volleyball courts, hot tubs, and GCU always has fun events so you are hardly ever bored.
Do you feel you’re getting value for the money you’re spending on college?
For the quality education and fun environment, it is worth every penny, and surprisingly very affordable. I could not be happier.
Share any unusual traditions or locations on campus
There's this bench near the parking garage in "the grove" near the basketball courts that people seem to gather and smoke their vapes there all the time. It seems that is the gathering spot for that particular pastime.
Which types of students will excel at your college?
Great for people that love basketball. The Havocs are crazy and so fun, I am not even a fan of basketball but the games are so fun to watch. Also great for motivated students that prefer the smaller class sizes. Christians will also appreciate the amazing Christian community here.
Are you involved in any clubs or activities?
There are plenty of clubs to get involved with and a wide variety of clubs and activities.
Are you involved in any clubs or activities?
There is no Greek life here!
How would you describe campus safety? Do you feel safe on campus?
You pass a security guard to get in. It is a gated community and you need guest passes for guests to come. So, I'd say it is pretty safe.
