Tory's Review

Review of DeVry University

from Bates City, MO

Do you feel you’re learning a lot?

This school is great for learning new things, all of the teachers are really helpful, and the small class sizes mean that you can talk to them about your problems face to face.

Do you enjoy the experience at your school?

It's loads of fun, we've got a video game club, and they hold all sorts of events, some of the events are just for fun, but they also have events to help you get prepared for the world.

Do you feel you’re getting value for the money you’re spending on college?

It's a bit pricey, but it's worth it. Not only do you get a good quality education, you also meet a lot of people who hold important positions in the world, or you meet people who know people, it's all about networking these days.

Do you have any tips for prospective students?

Definitely apply for scholarships, make sure you know what your professors expectations are, and don't take more classes than you can handle, it might not seem like much, but over 16 credit hours at a time is a lot to handle. The classes are 8 weeks instead of 16, so you can get done sooner, but you have to learn the same information in a shorter period of time, so make sure you don't fall behind. Also if you're a junior or a senior in high-school ask about their passport2college and start now programs. They allow some High-school students to take college courses free (except for the books, but they're usually less than $100).

Which types of students will excel at your college?

It's great for the type of student that likes to jump right in, you don't just take all of the Gen ed. classes first, you get started taking classes in you major right away. It's also great for students who want to be done fast. I should graduate in the next two years, that will put me years ahead of my peers who won't graduate for another four. It's also great for people who need flexible schedules, You can have day classes, or night classes on any day of the week except Sundays, and most classes are offered on multiple days, so you can choose what days will work best for you (you'll have to stick with that day though).
